About AsiaFlux
Established in 1999, AsiaFlux is a regional research network dedicated to advancing the understanding of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and removals across Asia. Using Eddy Covariance flux towers, remote sensing, and ecosystem modeling, AsiaFlux has made substantial contributions to regional and global carbon cycle science and is a key partner of the global FLUXNET network.
AsiaFlux supports sustainable development and robust climate action by promoting collaboration, capacity building, and open data sharing across the region. The network also plays a vital role in underpinning credible Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) systems, supporting countries in meeting their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement.

About the Conference
The AsiaFlux Conference is an annual flagship event that convenes scientists, policymakers and practitioners to share the latest advancements in ecosystem-atmosphere exchanges and land-based climate solutions. Most recent conferences in Jeju Island, South Korea (2023) and Wuhan, China (2024), have been instrumental in strengthening regional and global collaboration and nurturing a new generation of scientists.
We are proud to announce that the AsiaFlux Conference 2025 will be held for the first time in Indonesia, from 20–25 October 2025, in Pangkalan Kerinci, Riau. This marks a historic milestone for both Indonesia and the AsiaFlux community, bringing international attention to one of the world’s most critical landscapes for climate mitigation and adaptation.
Conference Theme
“Nature-Based Solutions for Asia: From Advanced Science and Technology to Practices”
This year’s theme reflects the growing urgency to translate robust scientific evidence into scalable, inclusive, and verifiable climate solutions. The conference aims how ecosystem science - through measurement, modeling, and monitoring - can enable effective Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) for both climate mitigation and adaptation across Asia’s diverse landscapes.
Strategic Objectives
Strengthen Asia’s leadership in global climate science and land sector Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV).
Support national and subnational implementation of climate commitments.
Promote integration of ground-based flux data with remote sensing and models.
Bridge scientific understandings with policy, practice, and financing mechanisms.
Build regional capacity of researchers in climate science and policy.
Scientific Tracks
GHG, water, and energy fluxes from terrestrial ecosystems.
Satellite validation, remote sensing integration, and ecosystem modeling.
GHG budgets of peatlands, wetlands, forests, and agricultural systems.
Atmospheric observations, inversion modeling, and regional flux synthesis.
MRV systems for carbon markets, Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), and Nature-Based Solutions.
Ecosystem responses to restoration, land-use change, fire event, and climate variability.
Why Indonesia? Why Now?
Indonesia is home to the world’s largest tropical peatlands, extensive mangroves, and diverse forested landscapes - making it a global hotspot for Nature-Based Solutions. As the host of AsiaFlux Conference 2025, Indonesia signals its strong commitment to land-based climate strategies, regional and global collaboration on MRV, and sustainable land use under Indonesia’s FOLU Net Sink 2030 target.
